Megan Blaine Is Helping Local Houston Moms Get Their Time, Income, and Joy Back

If you meet Megan Blaine and ask her what she does, she won't lead with a job title. She'll lead with the fact that she’s a mom, she’s loving the mahjong craze and learning to needlepoint, and she’s helping solve the mental load that moms carry every single day.
As the Houston Market Lead for Sherah, her job is helping other families. And we have her to thank for bringing it to all of us moms in H-town!
From full-time career to full-time mom — and back again, but differently
Before becoming a mom, Megan built a career that took her everywhere from managing talent at a modeling agency in Sydney, Australia, to managing clients at a marketing and PR firm in Washington, DC. She also worked at a law firm and in medical sales! But when her two kids came along, she stepped back from it all to be home with them full-time.
She loved it and still does. As the kids got a bit older, though, she started to feel something was missing now that she had more free time. It's a familiar bind for a lot of moms to find work that fits their life and allows them to still be there for their kids. A flexible opportunity built around a family, instead of competing with it, is surprisingly hard to find.
Megan brought it up one day at her Bible study group, where a friend suggested she look into a company called Sherah that an old friend had started. Liz knew that Sherah wasn't just providing personal assistant support to moms. It was also providing flexible work for moms.
Bringing Sherah to Houston
Turns out, her resume is exactly what a fast-growing startup needs. Talent management taught Megan how to read people and build trust quickly. PR and medical sales taught her how to build relationships. At Sherah, every team member wears several hats on any given day. And the range of Megan’s experiences, combined with the work ethic and efficiency that every mother knows well, matters more than any single job title ever did.
In less than one year since Megan launched Sherah in Houston, she's grown it into the company's second-largest U.S. market. Something she credits directly to our city's tight-knit community of women leaders, partners, and word-of-mouth support.
She has helped build Sherah’s Houston network of members, local service providers, and assistants — many of whom are former stay-at-home moms working flexible hours to handle the tasks that can consume a mom’s day. Dry cleaning pickup, finding a summer nanny, researching and enrolling kids in camps, planning a vacation, or simply locking down a weekly date night — they do it all.
And now she’s even helping bring Sherah to employers as an employee benefit and continuing their expansion to Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, and other markets across the country.
On work, motherhood, and choosing both
Megan is candid about how much Sherah's flexibility has shaped her ability to show up for her kids. She works around her own schedule and keeps her children in a mother's day out program three days a week. This lets her savor a stage of life she knows won't last much longer while still filling her own cup, resume, and capital.
If she could go back and talk to who she was before kids, Megan says she'd tell herself to give herself grace, say yes more often, and remember there's no finish line. There’s just the ride.
